Max Caulfield

"I wish I could stay in this moment forever. I guess I actually can now, but then it wouldn’t be a moment."

This is was truely a passion project. Life is Strange is by far one of my favorite games, and I've played through it multiple times in order to expose as many people as possible to it! My love for the character and the game drove this costume. As well as a need for something compfy but still being in costume!

I debuted this costume at Otakon 2016. This was my first ever anime convention (began attending in 2004) so a costume about time travel seemed fitting for its final year at the Baltimore Convention Center

Construction Notes

Wig- I bought a heat resistant wig off of ebay (which was NOT heat resistant) in a color and style that was as close to Max's as possible. Then, I styled it with a hairdryer and a round brush to give the wig some body. I curled the middle part of the hair outward by winding the hair around the brush and heating the underside of the brush with fiber. Then I curled the hair back in (toward my neck) using the same technique and heating the outside to train the hair back in. I trimmed it a bit in the back as well as the bangs.

Top- I went to EmbroidMe in Cantonsville and ordered a scoop neck shirt from them in white. I then dyed the shirt a nice light pink color that would match Max's as close as possible (though her reference images, screenshots, and concept art all very in tone). Then, once the shirt was dry, I took it back to EmbroidMe and had them but the Jane Doe logo on. I got the logo from Square Enix's website.

Grey Hoodie- Amazon!

Jeans- Thrift store! They were a wide leg, but I took them in a bit to be more straight

Camera- eBay!

Shoes- Target!

Butterfly Crown- An original idea on my part. I loved the symbolism the blue butterfly carried throughout the entire game and I wanted to in some way incorporate that into my costume. So, I bought a pack of blue butterflies off amazon and put the butterfly that most resembled the one in the game on my camera, and used the rest (that didn't have crazy colors) to make the crown. I followed this tutorial.
