Akali (KDA Skin)

"You ready for this?"

When this music video dropped I needed Akali's outfit on my body. This is such a fun and easy costume to wear! I just love the mixture of fabrics in this and the way they catch the light in photos.

Construction Notes

Wig- I bought the current wig off Amazon since the Arda one I ordered wouldn't come in time for convention I was wearing this costume to. I plan to replace this wig with that one once I style it. For this amazon wig, all I did was adjust the ponytail location to fit through the cap, then I teased and spiked the ponytail to be more dramatic looking.

Hat- I bought a black baseball cap off amazon, then sewed a new top to create a  hat that matched the fabrics I already used in my costume. The cap has a mixture of two fabrics; the holographic black used for my pants and top as well has a more matte looking hex fabric to best match the texture I could see in the concept art. Both fabrics are from Yaya Han's fabric line at Joanns. For the letters, I just cut them out of 3mm craft foam and covered them in gold holographic spandex to match the rest of the gold in the costume. The gold bias and stars are made of the same fabric and glued into place.

Mask- I bought the mask initially off amazon, but then I wanted it to be more shinny. So I used some iridescent, cricut brand iron-on vinyl and covered the original mouth pattern. The vinyl is transparent, so I was able to trace the pattern already on the mask, cut out the piece, and then iron on top of the original.

Jacket- Made by Artistic Sprouts and purchased through Bhiner Cosplay. The only alteration I made to the jacket was I stitched the gold plate on the sleeve to tha actual sleeve so it would stay in place.

Top- Sewn with Yaya Han holographic black pleather and white ultrapreme. I used the top from the Artistic Sprouts costume as a pattern and recreated it in fabrics I preferred.

Pants- Sewn with Yaya Han holographic black pleather and holographic gold spandex. The pants were just a basic legging pattern I cut a short leg into. I reused the leg I cut off for the detached sock portion of the costume.

Shoes- Sneakers purchased from DSW.

Accessories- The gloves, belt with heart buckle, and bangles came with the costume and I just reused them. The black choker I made with the same fabric I used to make the pants and hat and the gold necklace I bought off amazon.
